The global gut health industry is booming, but with growth has come confusion. Endless strains, inflated claims, and overcomplicated formulations have left consumers overwhelmed and increasingly unsure who to trust.
Clinical Naturopath Emily Carlstrom saw the problem firsthand after years helping clients navigate bloating, fatigue, hormonal skin, stress, and postnatal burnout. She recognised a gap in the market for a probiotic brand grounded in simplicity, credibility, and real results.
That insight was the spark for SolBiome.
Hunter was engaged to build the brand from the ground up, shaping everything from positioning and personality through to messaging, identity and packaging. The goal wasn’t simply to launch ‘just another’ supplement, but to create a premium wellness brand with a genuine clinical point of difference, capable of standing confidently alongside the world’s best beauty and health products.
The strategic opportunity was clear. While many brands in the category competed on complexity, SolBiome would build trust through simplicity. The focus shifted away from the mash-up of scientific overload and influencer hype, towards something more human: how people want to feel. Calm. Balanced. Energised. And comfortable in their own body again.
Emily Carlstrom, Founder & Clinical Naturopath
Inspired by the interconnected nature of the body and microbiome, Hunter created a modular visual language that reflected movement, balance, and internal connection. Warm, premium tones softened the clinical category codes, while tactile finishes and a refined unboxing experience elevated the brand into premium beauty and wellness territory. The result was packaging sophisticated enough to launch into MECCA alongside globally recognised brands.
Strategically, SolBiome also introduced a trademarked ‘Biomes’ framework, helping simplify the relationship between gut health, skin, immunity, mood, and digestion. This created a more ownable platform for communication, future product development, and long-term growth.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive. MECCA praised the packaging and overall brand execution, while customers and healthcare professionals alike connected with the brand’s balance of credibility, simplicity, and emotional warmth. Reviews consistently highlighted not only the effectiveness of the product, but the trust and reassurance surrounding the experience itself.
“Your skin, mood, and immune system may seem like separate players, but they’re all working from the same script written by your gut microbiome. That idea became the foundation for SolBiome. We wanted to create a brand people could trust, understand, and genuinely feel good using every day.”
SolBiome proves that in a category crowded with complexity, simplicity can become the ultimate premium positioning. In redefining gut health through the lens of interconnected wellbeing, the brand transformed probiotics from a functional supplement into something more human, intuitive, and emotionally relevant.
Brand Scale-Up Lessons / Key Takeaways:
- In crowded wellness categories, simplicity builds trust faster than complexity.
- Clinical credibility becomes more powerful when paired with warmth, clarity, and emotional reassurance.
- Premium packaging isn’t decoration. It shapes perception, drives desirability, and creates retail confidence.
- Wellness brands win when they focus less on ingredients and more on how people want to feel.
- A strong proprietary framework, like SolBiome’s trademarked ‘Biomes’ system, creates long-term differentiation and scalability.
- Modern consumers don’t just buy products. They buy brands that make health feel easier to understand and easier to trust.
